About Meena Chen

Meena Chen (they/them) is a dancer, choreographer, educator, and multimedia storyteller. They work across mediums such as music, visual art, and dance, with the goal of inspiring expression, creativity, and awareness through the practice of art-making and celebration in community. 

As a performer, they are known by their full name - Meenakshi 陳美明 - an homage to their mixed ancestral and cultural influences.

Meena graduated from Swarthmore College in 2021 with a major in Environmental Studies and double minor in Religion and Dance, and has been working as a freelance performing artist and creator ever since. They currently work with Notes in Motion, teaching dance across public schools in NYC while working freelance as a comic and tattoo artist, writer, and choreographer, and playing music with their band!
